Description
Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street Gardens, 2025, is a painting inspired by the monument and the icon that is
Edinburgh Castle. To incorporate my beloved trees, I wanted to get a view of the castle from Princes Street Gardens. The painting itself has an eerie quality which felt suitable as I completed it in October, the Halloween month!
I am a visual artist based in Midlothian, Scotland. I create paintings of woodland landscapes and gnarled trees that I come across on my walks through nature. These woodlands are mainly in Scotland with some abroad in Europe and Canada. I make my work using water mixable oil paint on canvas to avoid extra fumes whilst working at my studio in Edinburgh.
Colour plays a very important role in these works. Warm and unusual hues of pinks, oranges and reds set off the lush green tones of the foliage around. I enjoy making drawings of animals using fine liner pens with some additions of paint. I particularly enjoy creating drawings of the native and plentiful wildlife in Scotland. Always, I am working to expand the selection of these animals.
The original painting is available to buy. Please contact me
