Woods near Innerleithen depicts a woodland scene on the outskirts of the town of Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders. Pink and plum hues set off the bright greens of foliage and lichen. They also help to create an unusual landscape which sits between realism and the dream world. I thoroughly enjoyed painting the details of the bark with many thin layers of water mixable oil paint. The viewer loses themselves down this enigmatic woodland path. They can also imagine what might lie at the end of it.
I had taken a walk at the weekend just outside of Innerleithen. It was a delightful journey as it takes you along the River Tweed and even passed an Alpaca farm. Innerleithen is a picturesque town in the Scottish Borders which is well known for its cycling routes. I often enjoy walking in the Scottish Borders. There are such a variety of beautiful walks and hikes in the Tweed Valley. The River Tweed itself is also home to a lot of wildlife including otters.
